48 Hour Film Project
Did you check out the MacGruber short? Did you think, “Wow, that’s so cool! I wish I could have been part of that!” or “That was horrible, I’d rather watch from Justin to Kelly! I could make something so much better!”? Either way, you can! The 48 Hour Film Project is coming to Greensboro and if we get enough volunteers, DSI will be making its very own movie from the script to the sappy love ballad playing as the credits roll in ONE weekend! Crazy? Yes, but crazy fun!

First- Explore http://www.48hourfilm.com/greensboro/ to see what the 48 Hour Film Project is.

Second- Check your schedule. Are you free the weekend of June 11th? From Friday night till sundown on Sunday you will be hooked to an IV of coffee and Red Bull.

Third- Think about what talents and super powers you could bring to the DSI team! Writing, filming, special effects, costuming, make-up, music, acting, animal training, coffee running, dancing, stunts, etc- we want it!

Fourth- Comment below if you’re interested along with a list of any of the talents/super powers you were just thinking of.

Thank you! And if I haven’t already told you, I think you’re awesome!

Writing and acting and child labor/wrangling (ages 2, 4, 6, and 9).

I also have a dalmatian mix and a rat terrier, and access to a Golden Retriever and a rottweiler/german shepherd mix.

Awesome. I'm really excited to see what the DSI Family can make happen (and anything we produce can be catapulted to internet fame and possibly feature at the Carrboro Film Festival OR a little local Comedy Arts Festival next February...)

And GREAT WORK on the MacGruber Short to everyone who participated in that.

Thanks Zach!

So far we definitely have on board:

Aaron Keck may help with the writing process but is unsure he'll have time for anything more.

Also had a DSI stand-up student, Nathania Johnson, contact me wanting to help.

I'm In
I have a previous commitment on Friday but am available other times.

I have experience writing video scripts and editing. Some production...Some improvisation and acting...

I can work on costumes, work on make-up, dance, get coffee, sing loud but not good, and play the flute.

Steve has some video editing experience he may be willing to add.

Okey doke.

I am free for most of the weekend, except that I would have to leave early in the afternoon on that Sunday for work.
Speaking of, we could possibly use the camp I will be working at in Pittsboro as a location. But I would have to double-check on that.

Skillz: I can write, film, and edit. (yay UNC-STV!) Also, I think we have most of our Halloween costumes and play-jewelry back home.

I'm game for some part of this. Sounds fun! A few of us did something like this a while ago, getting a suggestion and running out to make a movie in 24 hours. We ended up with this:

I directed and edited; written en masse with all the actors; music by my friend Jackson.

I'm stoked!

I can:
light (not super experienced, but I've done it)
edit w/ final cut or premier
sound/music (i have a tiny home studio I can do foley and or ADR in if needed).

I also have access to some great gear through my old school.
I already plan on getting light kits, a jib, a dolly, and anything else I think might be useful.

Vinny- Please send me a list as soon as you find out what equipment you can get.

Tara- Let me know about the camp. I have a release form that has to be filled out if they do decide to let us film there.

Kim- Do you think your mom would volunteer her backyard again if we need it?

So now we have:

I'm going to a Q&A session and social meet-up this Friday night in Greensboro if anyone wants to come with me. It's a great chance to network.

As of today this is our group. I'm still reaching out and trying to get more people on board.
