David Abraham Siegel. Some know him as Dave.
Others know him as David (probably his mom). I know him as Davo, Daisy, Twinkle Cakes, and Hot Stuff.

But who is this man?

http://www.rosswhite.com/images/monday_upstairs-1.png

To us, he's an improviser. As Lisa P. says, "He is funny and positive and smart in a way that never makes the audience feel dumb." He began with DSI's 101 class. He was also in the DSI 202 class (pictured above) who performed as Monday's Upstairs. He also did other DSI stuff like the Intensive, the Documentary, and the Master Class. He is an original member of Tony's Pony and is now on Mr. Diplomat and CHiPs. And, as Ross White tells me, "He'll be better than you and me combined in a couple of months."

To others, he's a smartass Democrat. Those people say, "Dave scares easy. Real easy. We'd give him a key to the shed, but it's dark in there. He'd weep like a hippie with a fresh Howard Dean tattoo the day after the scream. And we don't want him to do that." To others, he's a blogger: http://dirtysouthimprov.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=701. Others note his other interests, saying, "Dave Siegel is funny. He went to beautifulagony.com". Others just say, "He's a douche. Smart guy, real funny, but just... a bit of a douche." And finally, he's a Jewish fratboy.

Dave Siegel also has a bright future ahead of him. Maybe he'll be professionally improvising. Maybe he'll be running the country. Maybe he'll be what Zack Bly wants him to be:

I know he'll be making babies with Diana. But, most importantly, as Lil G says, "Dave Siegel is awesome. Intelligent, grounded, kind, funny, the type of guy that you'd want as a best friend. And awesome." And I think the O'Bryans have it right when they say, "We love him." And we all do love you, Davo.

But whatever he is to any of us, today, April 20, 2004,

Happy Birthday Davve!

I'm writing in GREEN, just for you!
For your birthday, I'll be buying you a drink. But for now, my present to you is a picture--our future son might look somewhat like this chinese jewish guy :

I hope you're as excited as I am!

I am so honored to have friends like you all.

I entered the DSi community thinking I would take a class or two and that would be all.

Little did I know that I would encounter so many of the smartest, funniest and most honest friends you could imagine. Reading all this stuff makes me blush with embarssment because I know that NOTHING I do on stage would be possible without all the awesome, positive and BRILLIANT people backing me up.

I think back to that VERY first 101 class with the O'bryans (who I respect tremendously and miss dearly), Lisa P (who I genuinly consider a hero), Nate Garrett, who is a fellow alum from my high school, Eric D...who I wish I could have had for an art teacher when I was in high school, and Ross who was the very first person to teach me this fakakta thing we all call an art form...and anyone else in between...everyone on the Pony, my fellow players on Chips, the folks who I hope to do proud on Diplomat, Zach Ward for making his dream our lives...and everyone else in between, Dana Sody, Tim Coinsmith, Ethan K, Kit....and even if the list went on I know I'd be leaving someone out.

Before shows, many of us do a ritual of "having eachother's back." What makes this whole little adventure so cool is that ALL us have eachother's back, on stage and off. I owe everything I've managed to slap together improv-wise to the community I've had the pleasure of playing in.

I look forward to YOUR birthdays, so I can start equally obnoxious threads! I love you all.

Thanks so much,
Dave

Santa Claus and I say happy birthday, Dave. Why Santa? Because he will save us all. It's always a pleasure to work and hang out with you and I hope you don't get all weird now that you're a year older. Because if you do Santa says you're on you're own.

Hey Dave. I got you a starship for your birthday.
http://www.trekships.org/aegis-dave-wo_rollbar.jpg

Hope you don't already have one. The keys are in one of those magnetic-key-holder things that sticks to the frame, I put it under the port side warp nacelle.

WHOO!

Happy Birthday, Dave! I look forward to buying you a beer the next time I see you. You are the best, even if you are a Democrat.

Zack...thanks for the starship!

Its a bit tough to tell from this angle, but what class is that? Looks a bit like the Miranda class USS Reliant from W.O.K....but I dunno.

-Dave

PS. Its been having a little trouble picking up speed, but I think its because I've been starting it in over drive.

Happy birthday indeed. Dave, call the Democratic HQ and tell them you'll be missing for a while. Then go party until you can't remember your name or party affiliation.

Dave, for your birthday, I've found you an comedy page dedicated to Dave Siegel (www.davesiegel.com).
I mentioned it during DSIF, but now it's complete.
The pictures are all from back when you were still performing at the Improv,
instead of leaving out the preposition.

PS: There's even a family picture (http://www.davesiegel.com/images/Barmitzvah.jpg)of you at your brother's bar-mitzvah. (You're on the left.)

Dave, I got you this robot. It transforms and stuff, actually I dont know what it really does, I found it at a yard sale. The fat guy who sold it to me said that it'll make you dinner, snuggle with you at night, and will start an intergalactic war in your honor so that you may rule this known universe.

Happy Birthday!

Its a bit tough to tell from this angle, but what class is that?

I believe it's the U.S.S. Aegis, but I could be wrong.
