View Full Version : PT's Review of "The Pebble and the Penguin"

I know Martin Short does nothing but bad movies, so why did I think that doing something animated would change anything.

"The Pebble and the Penguin" is a story about a penguin named Hubie who tries to win the affection of another penguin, Marina. Hubie (Voice of Martin Short) is a shy penguin who's always wanted the perfect she-penguin, who happens to be Marina. In this childrens story directed by Don Bluth, it seems to be a simple story of over coming fear and winning the affection of the girl er animal you love, but no. When the mating season begins, the tradition of the penguins is to find a pebble to give to thier female of choice. I mean this is a better plot scenario, than telling the kids out there that penguins fight and kill each other to get the female. And like every animated love story, there is a bad guy. An evil penguin, Drake (Voice of Tim Curry) whos only motive for being evil is that he wants children! One night while Hubie looks for a stone, something falls out of the sky, not a comet nooooo! Its a green pebble, umm, okay. This pebble has magical powers, it shows Hubie of what and who he wants to see. On the day that everyone gives pebbles to thier loves, Hubie is almost killed by Drake, and somehow Hubie gets lost in the ocean and finds himself awake on a ship called Misery. Its here that Hubie meets the tempered and A-hole'ish penguin named Rocko (Voice of James Belushi). Soon these two find themselves on an adventure of a life time! They go to Hawaii, lighting chases them, they dodge killer whales, and.....uh...stuff like that! All the while back in Antartica, Marina waits for Hubie, and Drake keeps trying to rape, I mean, marry her. I don't want to give away the ending, you'll have to see it!

I give this movie a big "DUECE". Its not interesting and I wanted to kill Martin Short by the ending, not Hubie, just Short.

What I learned?
1: I don't like any Don Bluth film besides "Rock-A-Doodle!"
2: What's Martin short doing now besides "Glick"?

What Kody says: "I believe that there is a time and place for films like these to be watched. For me, it was a week ago! I was eating some cheese cubes and downloading the latest pics of Britney Spears! I swear "The Pebble and the Penguin" made me realize that when I propose to my girlfriend, I'm going to give her a pebble! Hold on, my mom's yelling at me.........................Geez, don't you hate it when your mom forgets to wash your underwear? I'm so mad now!"

ohh shut up Kody.
