Schedule:

http://www.unc.edu/~rvw/movies/italian.jpg12:00 Noon: THE ITALIAN JOB

Marky Mark and Charlize Theron are stealing some stuff. Come see the movie that made the Mini-Cooper look like a really sound buy. Also features Heist Movie All-Star Edward Norton, Donald Sutherland, and a safe. Note: Marky Mark does not appear in his underwear in this movie.

True.

http://www.unc.edu/~rvw/movies/heist.jpg2:30 PM: HEIST

This is the only movie on the list that I have yet to see-- in fact, I'm not even sure if it's being shipped to me at this moment or not. But you can't really do a film festival about heists and not include a movie with "heist" in the title. David Mamet wrote it, Delroy Lindo, Gene Hackman, and Danny DeVito are in it, we think it will be awesome.

http://www.unc.edu/~rvw/movies/score.jpg5:00 PM: THE SCORE

Another Edward Norton flick, this time pairing him with the badass of all heist movie badasses, Mister Robert DeNiro. Plus, there's a scene in which Marlon Brando is sitting by an empty pool, and he's so big that one surmises that if he were to lower himself into the pool, he might fill it. Seriously, Brando has gone downhill, but he's another reason this is one of the best heist movies ever. The best part about it is that it's almost two hours, but it feels like it's just the prelude to a longer movie. It's not. One of Ross's favorite movies.

http://www.unc.edu/~rvw/movies/ronin.jpg7:30 PM: RONIN

This is Ross's favorite movie, ever, period. Ronin, why do I love thee? Let me count the ways.

Well, for starters, Robert DeNiro turns in perhaps the most nuanced performance in the HISTORY OF FILM, people. That's the entire history of film. Plus, Jean Reno is the perfect foil in a film where what is being said is only about 10% of what is really happening, Natasha McElhone is all kinds of ferocious, Stallan Skarsgaard is outright menacing, and Jonathan Pryce is pretty badass, too. The film has the best car chase ever, in any movie, and I don't care if you've seen BULLETT, because this car chase is better.

So we hope you will join us. Some snacks will be provided, and I am sure that we'll order something around dinnertime for those of you insane enough to join us for the entire day. Beverage snobs are advised to bring their beverages of choice, since we've pretty much got soda and cheap beer.

Directions: From I-40 E or I-40 W, take exit 278 (NC-55). At the bottom of the ramp turn left. Pass through stoplights at Meridian Parkway and Carpenter Fletcher Rd. Turn left onto Odyssey Drive at the Penrith Apartments sign. 1217 is the first house on the right after the church parking lot. It's blue. Park in the driveway if you like. Or on the street. Just not in the yard. Don't bother with the doorbell. Just walk on in. It's OK. We promise.

Wow, that's awesome! Back-to-back showings of The Score and Ronin! I'll at least try to be there for those two.

Sa-weet!

I've had to work with Delroy Lindo in the past. He's a jerk. But I'll probably be there for the festivities, if I can find my way home from the O'Bryans.

I liked Heist a lot, but I'm a sucker for Mamet. Others liked it not-as-much, but they're stupid.

http://www.metacritic.com/media/movies/titles/3000miles/picture.jpg3000 Miles to Graceland?

http://www.gillinator.com/images/conansword.gifConan the Barbarian?

Kit, you have just shown the best scene from Entrapment.

I truly regret not including Ocean's Eleven, though.

Which 'Ocean's Eleven'?

Or should I not ask since you've already set a precedent with "The Italian Job"?

PS: This is called "Ocean's 11 for kids." (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0337917/maindetails)

PPS: And if we're going to start in on regrets, what about
